Widespread Bird Mortality Event

A large number of songbirds are dying from an unknown ailment in 10 states, including 60 out of 67 counties in Pennsylvania. The Pennsylvania Game Commission recommends that we all bring in our bird feeders and wash them with a 10% bleach solution until the mortality event subsides. Birds gather in close proximity at feeders, so diseases can be easily transmitted there. Now birds have to practice social distancing, too?! PA State Parks Spring Migration Round-Up, April 24-30, 2021

Yellow Creek State Park and five other PA state parks are having a friendly birding competition on April 24-30. If you want to participate, submit your lists to eBird or send them to Lisa Meadows, Yellow Creek State Park Educator, at lmeadows@pa.gov. Or, if you want to work for the opposition and submit lists for the other participating parks, visit Bald Eagle State Park, Black Moshannon State Park, Canoe Creek State Park, or Prince Gallitzin State Park.

Prince Gallitzin and Bald Eagle State Parks Fall Migration Round-Up

Prince Gallitzin State Park and Bald Eagle State Park are holding a friendly competition to see which park can tally the most species during fall migration from September 26 to October 2, 2020. Fall Meetings and Outings Cancelled

We have cancelled all outings and meetings for the fall of 2020, because of the coronavirus pandemic. The Christmas Bird Count will still take place on Saturday, December 26, 2020, but there will be no meeting at Hoss' Restaurant afterwards. The club will stay in touch with one another through the newsletter.

If Jeff harvests any sunflower seed this fall, we will sell bags as a fundraiser. When we have definitive information, we will inform club members through the newsletter or a direct email message.

We hope that you will continue to actively enjoy birding and we look forward to reading your reports in the newsletters.

The Todd Bird Club officers have canceled all Saturday outings through the end of April 2020, due to concerns about the COVID-19 coronavirus.

April 2020 meeting canceled

The Todd Bird Club officers have canceled the April 2020 meeting, due to concerns about the COVID-19 coronavirus. Outings will continue, if you wish to participate. As of now, we are still planning to have the May 2020 meeting and banquet.

If the officers make any changes to these decisions, we will send all members an update by email and post the changes in the news section of the Todd Bird Club’s main Web page.

PA Breeding Bird Blitz for Conservation, June 12-15, 2020

Participate in the Pennsylvania Breeding Bird Blitz for Conservation 2020 by registering at https://www.breedingbirdblitz.com. The registration deadline for individuals and teams is June 7, 2020.
