Description
Armstrong Trail, led by Theo Rickert (tjrickert33@gmail.com). Meet at 8:00 a.m. at the parking lot near Lock and Dam 8 north of Kittanning. The trail is flat and easy walking.
Directions: From Indiana, take Rt. 422 west to Kittanning. From Kittanning, take Johnston Ave, the only road going North along the Allegheny. It's only a few miles up to where this road takes a 90 degree turn away from the river (i.e. East). In this curve, take the small road to the left. This is State Rte. 1033. It first runs through a campground. Stay by the river, the road dead ends at the lock.
