Speaker: Ron Alsop
Description
Ron Alsop, the Penn Run Purple Martin landlord, will be our speaker. Come to learn about his continued success with his martin colony. He loves to speak and write about martins, especially the fact that it took him eight years to get a colony started. Ron began his quest to become a martin land- lord in 2010, at a time when there were no martin colonies nearby. He has provided articles for the Todd Bird Club and the Purple Martin Update, a national publication. Currently, Ron has 64 nesting pairs that have produced a combination of 276 babies and/or eggs. Many young are currently fledging and he has routinely fledged more than 200 babies per year for the past few years.
The meeting room set-up begins at 6:30; help is truly appreciated. Arrive by 7:00 to socialize and snack. Refreshments are provided at each of our meetings.
